Abiding Happiness Within

1 Corinthians 7:40 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 7 in context

Scripture Focus

40But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 7:40

Biblical Context

The verse suggests a woman is happier remaining in her present state, a judgment Paul offers, and he affirms this stance as guided by the Spirit of God in him.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, this line reveals that happiness is not a cause awaiting some future change, but a state the I AM can awaken in the now. The 'abiding' Paul speaks of is the inner alignment with God-state, a decision of the mind to accept the present moment as the vehicle of Spirit. If you are unmarried, settled, or in any form of present condition, the inner truth remains: the Spirit of God is resident within you, guiding perception and choice. The verse asks you to refrain from attempting to alter outer labels; instead, revise your inner assumption until your feeling-sense confirms it as fact. Your happiness is your inner consent to the God-life you already are. When you assent to the judgment that God is with you now, you invite a fresh movement of events to harmonize with that consciousness. Trust the image you hold about yourself; your imagination is the instrument by which you embody this state. The outer world then mirrors the inner state, and you live as if you already are the content of your desire.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state: 'I am happy, whole, and guided by the Spirit now.' Feel it as real in your chest and rest in that conviction for a few breaths.
