Biblical Context
Paul lays out a choice between marriage and remaining with a virgin; if there is pressure of time, marriage is permissible. If one stands firm in his heart with no pressing need and has control over his own will, keeping the virgin is better.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the theatre of your consciousness the virgin is a state of readiness awaiting expression. The 'flower of her age' and the pressure to act are not hard facts of life but inner movements of imagination that you have authored. When you perceive no real necessity compelling you toward union, you possess power over your own will; declare in your heart that you will keep your virgin state, and do so with conviction. To 'give her in marriage' or 'not give' are simply external forms that reflect your inner conviction. Choosing marriage can be seen as affirming a movement toward partnership; choosing not to marry can honor a higher state of integrity already realized within the I AM. The key is to stand steadfast in the state you desire, trusting that your inner assumption is the truth of your life, and that outer events will follow as the sun follows dawn. Imagination creates reality; by inner decree you author the relationships and the conditions you experience.
Practice This Now
Practice: in a quiet moment, assume you are already in the state you desire—your inner will unified with the state you choose. Feel it real as if it is done, and let the outer events align with that inner truth.
