Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
In 7:33-34, Paul contrasts the married person's attention to worldly concerns with the unmarried's devotion to the Lord, highlighting a path toward holiness through inner focus.
Neville's Inner Vision
From Neville's vantage, the difference Paul names is a simple movement in consciousness. The phrase caring for the things of the world is not a judgment but a symbol of a mind absorbed in outward appearances and social roles. The unmarried, who care for the things of the Lord, embodies a state of awareness oriented toward the inner sacred, holy in body and spirit. When you recognize that God is the I AM within you, you see that worldly concerns are images projected by a separated mind. The true life is the inner union with the divine Presence, and all outer duties become flows from that single reality. The husband, wife, career, and reputation are shifted once you identify with the Lord as your solitary reality. If you feel separation, rest the mind in the conviction that the inner of you is already united with the eternal, and allow outer circumstances to align to that inner harmony. This is not law but a conversion of attention—an inner conversion that reshapes perception from the inside out.
Practice This Now
Assume you are one with the Lord and revise worldly attention by silently affirming I am the I AM within me; allow this unity to color all your day.
