The Fashion That Passes Away
1 Corinthians 7:31 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul teaches detachment in using worldly things. Their outward forms are temporary and will pass away.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me, this line is not a command about ascetic denial, but a reminder that the world is a mirror of inner states. The 'fashion of this world' is the shifting costume worn by the living I AM. When I imagine that I am the awareness that uses, not abuses, the world, I release any final hold on its changing appearances. The more I stand as the unalterable I AM—calm, discerning, grateful—the more the outer circumstances reflect that inner constancy. The world serves as a stage for the soul's education, not as a master to fear or worship. Wisdom and discernment come from seeing that time’s rhythm mirrors the inner movement: perseverance in remaining awake, hope for a future that is always being created by imagination. The outer world thus becomes a faithful tool in my creation, while the real currency is inner states, not external forms. As I refuse to identify with fashion, I discover a lasting steadiness that will outlast every passing trend.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and revise your use of the world by affirming, 'I use the world, but I do not abuse it; its fashion passes as I stand in the I AM.' Then feel the truth by dwelling in the sensation of enduring inner state while you act on outer things today.
