Inner Stillness in Present Distress

1 Corinthians 7:26-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 7 in context

Scripture Focus

26I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
27Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
1 Corinthians 7:26-27

Biblical Context

Paul says that in the present distress it is wise to remain as you are; do not seek to loosen or gain a wife, but stay loyal to your current state.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the theatre of your mind, the present distress is not a problem to solve by changing outer conditions but a call to awaken to the I AM within. When you feel bound or loosed in form, notice that these terms symbolize your inner state, not mere marriage contracts. The law of imagination says you become what you assume; so to honor the verse, you do not hurry to alter your outer status. Instead, dwell in the awareness that your consciousness already contains the unchanging, loyal state. Remain where you are, and let the inner I AM affirm and maintain your state as good. By refusing to chase a different condition, you release resistance and invite your inner reality to express itself outwardly as harmony with your present situation. Your duty is fidelity to the state you occupy in imagination, for that state creates the life you see.

Practice This Now

Assume that you are already in your present state and feel the I AM sustaining you there. If urges arise to change your status, revise inwardly: 'I remain as I am, and this state is good.'
