Inner Covenant Rejoined

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 7 in context

Scripture Focus

10And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
11But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11

Biblical Context

The passage instructs married couples not to separate; if separation occurs, the parties should remain unmarried or be reconciled, emphasizing fidelity and reconciliation.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, the married couple is a single state of consciousness—an inner covenant. The 'Lord' who speaks is the I AM, the unchanging awareness behind every thought and feeling. When you hear 'let not the wife depart,' you are invited to hold the inner union steady: refuse to entertain a belief in separation as real, for separation is but a movement in your own consciousness. If, in some moment, you sense a departure, do not seek outer demands; revise the scene inwardly until the feeling of oneness returns. Return to the conviction that you and your beloved are one in God, and the outer marriage will reflect that inner state. This is not moralizing but a simple acknowledgment: your imagination fashions the relationship. Therefore assume the unity, act as if reconciled, and permit the heart to rise in gratitude for the established harmony. The command is guidance to align your inner life with the truth of your being, from which all mutual blessings flow.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and repeat, 'I am one with my beloved in God'; then revise any sense of separation by imagining a warm, reconciling scene that feels real to you.
