Inner Wisdom vs Worldly Craftiness

1 Corinthians 3:18-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 3 in context

Scripture Focus

18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20

Biblical Context

The passage warns against self-deception and worldly wisdom; true wisdom comes from recognizing the vanity of the wise and aligning with the I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let us read these lines as a summons to the inner court, where the I AM sits as our true teacher. The world speaks of wisdom in clever schemes and outward charm, yet the scripture declares that this wisdom is counted as foolishness by God and that the craftiness of the wise is their undoing. In my receiving, to become a fool for Christ is to yield the posture of consciousness that does not seek credit in the last page of a book, but rests in the simple awareness: I AM. When you claim, 'I AM wise,' you defend a picture; when you yield to the feeling of 'I AM,' the inner light rescues you from vanity and wrong thought. The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; therefore their mental constructions vanish in the light of awareness. Practice the reverse—enter the state where you do not trust the world’s verdict, but trust the unassailable fact that you are the I AM perceiving all. In that state, true discernment arises, and your actions align with faithfulness to your own invincible self.

Practice This Now

Assume the state that you are the I AM, the source of all wisdom; revise any image of worldly cleverness and feel that awareness as real.
