The Fool's Path to Wisdom

1 Corinthians 3:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 3 in context

Scripture Focus

18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1 Corinthians 3:18

Biblical Context

The verse warns not to deceive yourself about worldly wisdom; true wisdom arises when you let go of clever self-image and align with inner awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let no man deceive himself: the outer mind, no matter how clever, is but a reflection of the surface. When this world-laden voice says you are wise, you are being invited to become a fool in order to discover real wisdom. The true intelligence you seek is not a trick of thought but a state of consciousness—the I AM that is always awake, watching the play of forms. To be truly wise, you must treat your present self-image as a passing appearance and invite a deeper awareness to rule. The worldly 'wise' trust their masks; the inwardly wise surrender those masks to the light of awareness and permit the inner kingdom to govern. In this shift, you do not vanish; you become perfectly present as the I AM, and discernment flows from that inner center. Your life then becomes a clear reflection of the one intelligent presence within you, not the shifting opinions of the crowd.

Practice This Now

Practice: In a quiet moment, assume the state of being 'the fool' in the world's eyes, and feel the inner wisdom blooming as the I AM. Say softly, 'I am the I AM; I am already wise' and dwell in that feeling until it feels true.
