Awakening Beyond Carnality
1 Corinthians 3:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Corinthians 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul rebukes the congregation for still being carnal, babes in Christ, divided by loyalties and envy rather than spiritual discernment.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 as a map of states of consciousness. To say 'I am of Paul' or 'I am of Apollos' is to identify with separate images in your mind, a sign you walk as men rather than as the one spiritual self. The 'milk' and 'meat' symbolize stages of awareness; you cannot bear deeper truth while your sense of self is fractured by external labels. The cure is inner unity: cease honoring known teachers as separate selves and recognize that Paul, Apollos, and you are all expressions of the same I AM. The divisions you perceive—envy, strife, factions—are habits of a mind clinging to identity. When you adopt the feeling of oneness, the meat of truth becomes digestible, and you rise into a state where you are no longer carnal but spiritual. Humility and meekness take the place of pride, and the living Christ manifests as the same life within all.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I AM the I AM in all; there is no separation in this mind.' Then revise any allegiance to 'I am of' Paul or Apollos into 'I am one with all consciousness,' and feel that unity as real.
