Carnal to Spiritual: Inner Growth

1 Corinthians 3:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 3 in context

Scripture Focus

1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:1

Biblical Context

Paul tells the Corinthians they are still carnal, worldly, and not yet spiritually mature.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you the I AM remains untouched—the true, ever-present awareness behind every thought, feeling, and event. When Paul says he cannot speak unto you as unto spiritual, he is naming the habitual identification with appearances rather than the truth of your being as the spiritual man. The carnal mind loves proofs in circumstance, in applause, in results; the spiritual mind rests in consciousness, knowing that imagination creates reality. Therefore, do not chase outer signs to validate your worth. Instead, revise your sense of self to the spiritual you already are, and assume that state until it feels natural. In practice, dwell in a mental scene where you act with wisdom, holiness, and trust, as if you are the embodiment of discernment. Your inner state will not change by force but by consistent feeling-of-knowing that God is within and that your life will reflect that truth. The moment you stop identifying with the carnal self and consent to the higher self as your real ruler, the external world will begin to harmonize with the inner conviction you maintain.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the I AM is the only reality. See, feel, and act from that inner state until it becomes your ordinary way of being.
