Doors of Inner Opportunity

1 Corinthians 16:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 16 in context

Scripture Focus

8But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.
9For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
1 Corinthians 16:8-9

Biblical Context

Paul intends to stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, announcing a great door of opportunity opened to him, while acknowledging many adversaries.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the I AM, tarrying at Ephesus becomes steadfastness in a state of consciousness until Pentecost—the inner realization that revelation and opportunity are mine now. The 'great door' is a vivid inner doorway that appears when I align attention with the truth that God is awareness and imagination creates reality. The 'adversaries' are not external forces but the restless thoughts and old habits that argue against the new state. By choosing to remain in the desired state, I revise, I refuse to be moved by fear, and I feel it real that the door is open. As I persist, the door opens more widely; the work of the ministry—my service and witness—unfolds through the expansion of inner conviction into outward experience. Pentecost is the full flowering of the state I have chosen to inhabit; I do not wait for proof, I prove by inner preparation. If I stand in the state of answered prayer, the opportunities appear and the adversaries fade into the background.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume the state, 'I am at the door that opens now.' See it swing wide and step through, feeling the Pentecost-like certainty; revise any doubt by repeating, 'I am already in the open door.'
