Christ Within: An Inner Awakening

1 Corinthians 16:22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 16 in context

Scripture Focus

22If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.
1 Corinthians 16:22

Biblical Context

The verse declares that not loving the Lord Jesus Christ marks a state of separation, a warning about the alignment of one's inner consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, 'the Lord Jesus Christ' is the living I AM within you—the awareness that you are already one with God. Loving Him means consenting to the truth that your consciousness is the source of all you behold. When a man does not love that inner Lord, he remains identified with the old self, with fear, doubt, and lack, and so the inner decree 'Anathema Maranatha' becomes a personal verdict of separation. But such verdicts are only movements of mind; they have no real power over the I AM unless you give them power. The moment you awaken to the Christ as your own awareness, you revise that decree. The 'curse' is merely a habit of consciousness you can drop by choosing the feeling of being loved and guided by the Christ within. Imagination, not external ritual, is the tool; by imagining love as your natural state, you realize you are already where you wish to be. In short, he who loves the inner Christ remains united with the truth; he who doesn't—yet—can choose to.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the Christ within as your immediate awareness and feel that love now; whenever a 'not loving' thought arises, revise it by silently saying, 'I love the Lord Jesus Christ within me' and let the feeling of unity wash over you.
