Inner Offerings Open Doors
1 Corinthians 16:1-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Corinthians 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul lays out practical instructions for collecting offerings for the saints, laying aside funds on the first day of the week, and coordinating support and fellowship, while urging steadfast faith, charity, and unity among the believers.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me, the collection is not a purse of coins but a deposit of consciousness into my inner treasury. The first day of the week becomes a moment I choose to imprint abundance by laying by in store, as God hath prospered me, so that my outer gatherings reflect my inner prosperity. When I come to share liberality, I imagine my own mind coordinating with the Jerusalem within, sending forth what I hold as a gift from my I AM. The references to Timotheus, Apollos, Stephanas, and Fortunatus are inner qualities I bring forth to labor with me in the kingdom of my heart. A great door opened unto me represents a perceivable opportunity in consciousness, not mere outward travel, and the adversaries are inner doubts I do not feed. Watch, stand firm in faith, and do all things with charity—the atmosphere of my life becomes love. The greetings and the house of Aquila and Priscilla symbolize the unity of my inner community; Anathema Maranatha marks the pruning of thoughts not aligned with the Lord. Grace and love seal my consciousness, for I am possessed by Christ within.
Practice This Now
Practice: sit quietly and assume you have already laid by your prosperity in your inner treasury; feel gratitude and faith as if this is already so. Then revise any sense of lack by declaring, 'I am prospered; doors are opened; I give out of abundance.'
