Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul notes that Jesus appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve, and later to more than five hundred at once; many of these witnesses were still alive at the time of his writing.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this passage, the witnesses—Cephas, the Twelve, and the five hundred—are not distant historical events but inner states of consciousness appearing to your I AM. The appearances signal shifts in awareness: from doubt to trust, from separation to the sense of life’s continuous presence. When you regard these witnesses as inner movements, you realize the risen life is not external to you but awakening within your own awareness. Each group corresponds to layers of attention, memory, and faith arising in you, proving that the presence of God is presently available. The statement that some are fallen asleep points to dormant parts of yourself that can be revived by the vivifying energy of consciousness. Your task is to hold the conviction that you are seen by life itself, and therefore lacking nothing. The resurrection becomes your immediate state of realization, not a distant future event, as you align with the I AM and let the inner witnesses confirm your oneness with the living presence.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, and with the words 'I am the I AM who is seen now,' imagine Cephas, the Twelve, and five hundred as inner states of you. Revise any sense of lack by affirming 'I stand in the risen life now' until it feels real.
