Inner Silence, Divine Guidance

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 14 in context

Scripture Focus

34Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
35And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
1 Corinthians 14:34-35

Biblical Context

Paul instructs women to remain silent in church and to be under obedience. If they have a question, they should ask at home.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this passage, the 'silence' is not a denigration of women but a symbol of the feminine principle in consciousness, asked to settle so the I AM can be heard. The 'church' is the temple of your mind, and 'speaking' outwardly is the mind’s wandering chatter that disrupts order. To be 'under obedience, as also saith the law' is to yield to the inner law—the unchanging pattern of truth dwelling in you as I AM. When a question arises, the directive to 'ask at home' becomes a call to turn inward, to your inner husband—the higher Self or divine authority within—where true answers reside. The outer worship forms are not the source of power; true worship is quiet alignment with the One Mind, imagining from that stillness the reality you seek. In this light, obedience is not bondage but a harmonizing of your thinking with the law of your own being, so that your life conforms to the truth you already are.

Practice This Now

Practice: Sit in stillness and declare 'I AM the silent temple'; feel the inner whisper guiding your next step. If questions arise, revise by inwardly announcing 'the answer is already within,' and listen for the quiet response.
