The Inner Interpreter Within

1 Corinthians 14:27-28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 14 in context

Scripture Focus

27If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
1 Corinthians 14:27-28

Biblical Context

The verses teach that speaking in unknown tongues should be orderly, with only two or three speakers and an interpreter; if there is no interpreter, one should remain silent and speak to God in private.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within every utterance of inner impulse lies a teacher: your I AM, the silent interpreter within. The unknown tongue you feel bubbling up is the raw energy of imagination seeking form. The instruction for two or three and for interpretation is not external regulation but a cadence for your inner life: pause, listen, and allow the inner interpreter to render meaning before you speak aloud. If there is no interpreter, keep silent in the assembly of your consciousness; speak instead to yourself and to God, which is to say, converse with the God within you. The church is your own consciousness; God is the I AM you embody. To practice this is to trust that your spoken word is only real when your inner translation exists already in awareness. When you revise the impulse until it feels true, you have interpreted it; your outward voice becomes the clear expression of an inner vision. Therefore, treat every inspiration as a message from your higher self and align it with the inner I AM before giving it form in speech.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and picture an inner interpreter translating your impulse into a clear blessing. Revise until it feels already spoken by God within.
