Blessed by Spirit: Edification Within

1 Corinthians 14:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 14 in context

Scripture Focus

16Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
17For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
1 Corinthians 14:16-17

Biblical Context

Paul notes a tension: you bless with the spirit, but someone present may not understand and cannot say Amen. True edification emerges when gratitude is conveyed in a way that others can grasp.

Neville's Inner Vision

Understand that the 'room of the unlearned' is a state of mind, not a place. When you bless with the spirit you radiate a vibrational measure of gratitude; the Amen of another is their inner echo of that same vibration. If they do not understand, it signals to you that your inner state is not yet common ground with theirs. You are forever speaking to the I AM within; your words become reality as you accept their assent inwardly. To edify, refuse to be discouraged; instead revise your inner speech so that its meaning lands in their consciousness. Imagine the hearer sharing your truth, and feel that your thanks are understood by all. Then your outward blessing will harmonize with that inner assumption, and edification follows as a natural consequence of your united state of awareness.

Practice This Now

Practice: close your eyes and imagine blessing with spirit while a circle of listeners understands and says Amen. Hold that feeling for a minute and carry the revised inner certainty into your daily speech.
