The passage says the Spirit manifests in diverse gifts for the common good. Every person has access to some gift through the same Spirit.

To the inner student, the text is not about others receiving gifts from above, but about your own consciousness revealing itself as a capacity you have already. The 'gift' is not a future event but a state you enter by recognizing that you are the I AM, the Spirit that animates every thought. When you entertain the idea that to one the Spirit grants the word of wisdom, to another knowledge, and to another faith, you are simply distinguishing the many facets of your one, ever-present awareness. The manifestation comes as you stop identifying with lack and begin claiming the truth that you are the source of all discernment, healing, and miracle-working. Your inner acts of imagination are the channels through which the Spirit operates; the world’s gifts are only the outward signs of an inward conviction that you have already received them. Therefore, cultivate the belief that your consciousness is the instrument of divine activity; as you persist in that assumption, the corresponding fruits appear in your life as tangible changes.
