Read 1 Corinthians 12 in context

Scripture Focus

23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
1 Corinthians 12:23-24

Biblical Context

These verses teach that the less honorable parts deserve greater honor. The whole body is united and strengthened when every part is valued.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of this not as a moral command but as a truth of consciousness: the parts you deem less honorable are the precise channels through which the I AM, God within, pours more light when you treat them with supreme regard. God hath tempered the body by empowering the neglected members with honor; so in your inner life, honor every humble part by turning your attention to them with affection and attention. When you revise your state, you are not changing facts but your inner atmosphere; by imagining a unity that includes the unlovely as well as the lovely, you align with the inner arrangement that makes the whole glow. The comely parts need no preference; your mindful focus on the lacking parts creates wholeness. So assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled: the whole self, including the neglected, is celebrated; you feel the body as one, tempered by love through your I AM. This is how you experience bodily harmony arising from within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and assume: I am the I AM; this body is whole and honored, including its humble parts. See and feel a soft expansion of unity; repeat 'I am one with all parts' until it feels real.
