From Idols to The Lord Within

1 Corinthians 12:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 12 in context

Scripture Focus

2Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
1 Corinthians 12:2-3

Biblical Context

Paul says people were led by idols, and that naming Jesus as Lord is something only the Spirit enables in your present consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider the Gentile you once believed yourself to be—carried away by images that glitter but do not satisfy. In Neville's language these images are idols of memory and fear, fixed as if real. Yet the Spirit Paul speaks of is not out there but the activity of your own awareness—the I AM—that can awaken you to the truth that Jesus is Lord in this very moment. When you say Jesus is Lord, you are not invoking a distant figure but acknowledging the lordship already present within your consciousness. The Holy Ghost becomes the inner operation that rearranges your thoughts, dissolves the pictures that bind you, and aligns you with the divine pattern. This is a present transformation: you choose to imagine from the end, seeing yourself governed by love, faith, and harmony instead of doubt. The instant you permit the inner Lord to reign, you release the idols and stand in the freedom of God within you.

Practice This Now

Assume the truth now: 'Jesus is Lord in my mind this moment.' Feel the Holy Spirit guiding your thoughts into harmony and visualize the idol-image dissolving into light.
