Inner Communion and Discernment

1 Corinthians 11:29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 11 in context

Scripture Focus

29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
1 Corinthians 11:29

Biblical Context

The verse warns that consuming food and drink unworthily causes self-imposed judgment by failing to discern the sacred presence within—the Lord's body.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM lens, this verse is not about external ritual so much as your state of consciousness at the moment of nourishment. 'Unworthily' means approaching the meal with a split or unaware self—forgetting that the Lord's body dwells within you as the I AM. The 'damnation' is self-imposed limitation arising from such forgetfulness; it is not a future sentence but a contraction of life-energy by disbelieving your true identity. When you do not discern the Lord's body, you align with separation and creation proceeds from fear, lack, or grievance, thus you experience the fruit of that inner misalignment. The cure is immediate: return your awareness to the one presence, the I AM, and regard the body as the temple of God, the living unity of all. Then every act of eating and drinking becomes a ritual of communion, a renewal of the whole self rather than a reinforcement of separation. Acknowledge you are the Lord's body, and the world you experience shifts to match your conscious alignment with divine reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume I am the Lord's body now and let that identify how you eat; for five minutes, feel the presence of the I AM infusing each bite, and silently declare, I am one with God, until the sense of unity becomes your habitual perception.
