Biblical Context
Paul revisits the Lord's Supper as a remembered act of Jesus' sacrifice and covenant, warning that participating unworthily corrupts the meaning and the body of the Lord.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this text, I see Paul anchoring a living moment: the Lord's Supper is not mere ceremony but a declaration of your inner life. The bread becomes the body of your awareness, broken for you to heal a sense of separation; the cup embodies the life-blood of your consciousness, a new testament poured into your days. When you take, you are not recalling a distant event but consigning your attention to a present reality you create now. By eating, you acknowledge the inner union that has already occurred in the I AM; by drinking, you reaffirm covenant loyalty to the I AM within. The warning about unworthy reception points to entering with purity of purpose and clear desire, so the symbol can awaken the truth of the Lord's death and the coming of a fresh order in your life. Each such act enacts the death of the old self and invites the risen order to manifest as present reality through your own consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and, in imagination, declare 'This is my body, the I AM made manifest' as you eat, then 'This cup is my life in the I AM' as you drink; hold the feeling of unity for a minute.
