Inner Unity Amid Divisions

1 Corinthians 11:18-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 11 in context

Scripture Focus

18For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
1 Corinthians 11:18-19

Biblical Context

Paul notes that when the church gathers, divisions surface. He says heresies must arise so the truly approved are revealed.

Neville's Inner Vision

When you read Paul’s words, understand that the 'church' is the theater of your own consciousness. The 'divisions' are competing pictures within the mind, and the 'heresies' are false beliefs masquerading as truth. They exist to reveal the quality of your inner state: which belief is truly aligned with the I AM, and which must surrender. The statement that there 'must be also heresies' is not a prescription for quarrel but a diagnostic—once you consistently identify and revise the appearances that split your mind, the unity of your authentic self is proven. In this framework, 'they which are approved' are those whose imagination has been disciplined to choose unity over fragmentation; the apparent conflict becomes the means by which you witness the one life of God within you. So shift from fear of division to the recognition that all is God in expression, and your inner church stands as one.

Practice This Now

When you feel divided, close your eyes and assume the feeling of oneness: 'I am the I AM; there is only God within me.' Repeat until the sense of separation dissolves and unity is felt as real.
