Edifying Freedom Within Love

1 Corinthians 10:23-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 10 in context

Scripture Focus

23All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
1 Corinthians 10:23-24

Biblical Context

Paul says all things may be lawful, but not all edify; true abundance lies in seeking others' welfare rather than one's own.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within every line of Paul’s counsel you hear the whisper of your inner economy. 'All things are lawful' speaks for a free mind; the measure, however, is edification—the lifting of consciousness and neighbor alike. In the Neville mode, the 'I AM' you seek is not a solitary debtor but the living law that moves as you. When you imagine yourself as separate, you throttle love; when you imagine you are the source of wealth poured into the shared life, you discover that freedom becomes expedient because it serves the whole. The commandments reveal not external constraints but the center of things—the I AM acting through you to bless others. Thus the true limit of freedom is not restraint but the alignment of desire with the welfare of your brethren. Therefore, revise any impulse toward self-satisfaction and replace it with the assumption that you are the channel through which edification flows. Practice this and your inner world expands in generosity, clarity, and the sense that belonging to the whole is your wealth.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling 'I am the wealth that blesses others'; visualize a specific person and see your act enriching them. Do this for a few minutes, breathing and making it feel real.
