Stand or Fall Within
1 Corinthians 10:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Corinthians 10 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Those who think they stand secure should beware. Pride, when trusted as strength, can cause a sudden fall in consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the words as a mirror for your inner states. To 'stand' is to occupy a state of confidence born of a story you tell about yourself. The moment you believe you are securely upright by your own merit, you invite the unseen lever that pulls you down. Paul is not speaking to a wall of history, but to the structure of your consciousness: pride erects a fortress of self-congratulation, humility dissolves it, and endurance is the art of remaining in a conscious I AM that never fears the fall. When you feel the impulse to exaltation, you must revise by imagining the entire sense of 'standing' as a creation of imagination, not a fixed reality. The I AM, your true Self, remains constant; the world of appearances shifts to reflect your inner assumption. If you maintain a humble posture of awareness—not in denial, but as the steady ground of being—the 'fall' becomes a correction, not a punishment. You grow by letting pride's illusion be seen and dissolved by the light of your consciousness.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly in the awareness of I AM, revise any prideful image by declaring, 'I am in God; I stand now in the I AM.'
