Biblical Context
Jerijah is named as the chief among the Hebronites. In David’s fortieth year they are sought, and mighty men of valor are found at Jazer of Gilead.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner scripture, Jerijah represents a leader within your own consciousness—the I AM that governs your Hebronites, the settled dispositions of your heart. The fortieth year of David's reign is not a calendar but a moment of maturity in your inner life, when you are sought by a higher calling. Those sought are not distant scouts but the awakening faculties—courage, steadfastness, discernment—risen as mighty men of valor within the land of your own Jazer of Gilead, a symbolic place of breakthrough and witness. This passage teaches that whereby the kingdom of God is established within, a selection occurs: you choose the valiant aspects of your nature, aligning them under your true king, your I AM. The dignity of Imago Dei is expressed as brave effort and perseverance; the inner generals gather, for spiritual warfare is the discipline of maintaining awareness in the face of fear, until the heart recognizes its own sovereignty. So the verse invites your present awareness to choose courage as a permanent state, thereby expanding the realm that your imagination calls into being.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are Jerijah, the chief within. Feel the fortieth-year readiness; imagine the mighty men of valor gathering at Jazer of Gilead as you stand in the Kingdom of God within.
