Inner Temple Duties Unveiled

1 Chronicles 23:28-32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Chronicles 23 in context

Scripture Focus

28Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;
31And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:
32And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
1 Chronicles 23:28-32

Biblical Context

These verses describe Levites whose office is to serve the house of the LORD, purify holy things, prepare offerings, and stand daily in praise. They are to guard the tabernacle and the holy place, continuing in service as commanded.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, the temple of the LORD is your awareness. The Levites’ office to wait on the sons of Aaron becomes a discipline of waiting on your higher self—the I AM that simply is. The courts and chambers are the compartments of mind where judgments and stories are kept; purifying all holy things means cleansing beliefs you prize as sacred so they serve you rather than enslave you. The duties of offering and serving—the shewbread, the meals, the morning and evening praise—are the inner nourishment of ideas that sustain your life. Standing daily to thank and praise the LORD becomes a steady, felt posture of gratitude that anchors reality in your favor. To offer burnt sacrifices in sabbaths and set feasts is to deny fear and ego, honoring a divine order within and aligning with your true nature. By keeping the charge of the tabernacle and the holy place, you sustain the sanctuary of your consciousness, with the brethren of your inner life serving in harmony.

Practice This Now

Stand before your inner altar each morning and evening, and declare, 'I am now the keeper of this temple.' Purify a cherished thought, replace fear with gratitude, and feel the inner sanctuary brighten as you bless your day.
