Rest and Divine Order Within

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David intended to build a temple for the Lord, but the Lord forbids due to bloodshed; a son will bring rest and peace, and his throne will be established forever.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice that the outer plan (David's ambition) is displaced by a higher inner order. The 'house' David desired to build is not bricks but a state of consciousness where the I AM presides in quiet. The word that you have shed blood and war indicates the old self in conflict, the part of you that believes you must struggle to achieve. Yet a 'son' shall be born—an inner state of rest—by which you are delivered from every surrounding disturbance. This 'son' whose name is Solomon points to a peace-filled consciousness that names rest as true; 'I will give him rest from all his enemies round about' marks the moment you stop fighting the world and begin listening to the inner governor. 'He shall build an house for my name' means your inner temple is built not with stone but with steadfast attention, with the I AM as father and governor. The throne of his kingdom established forever is the concluding claim: when you choose rest as your operating principle, your mental realm becomes permanent, a realm of harmony that endures. The method is to shift allegiance from striving to the assumed feeling of complete rest, and permit imagination to realize that peace here and now.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, place attention on the I AM, and repeat, 'I am at rest now,' feeling the certainty saturate your body. Then imagine Solomon seated on a throne of consciousness within you, peace radiating outward.
