Full-Price Worship Within

1 Chronicles 21:22-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Chronicles 21 in context

Scripture Focus

22Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
23And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.
24And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
1 Chronicles 21:22-24

Biblical Context

David instructs to buy the threshing floor and altar site at full price to stay the plague, and refuses Ornan's offer of free gifts. The inner meaning: worship requires complete personal investment and covenant loyalty.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here the land and the altar are not places in history but states in you. David's insistence on paying the full price shows that cleansing, healing, and true worship arise only when you are willing to invest your whole consciousness—not a cheap token. The 'plague' is the problem moving through your life, a sensation of lacking, a sense of separation from the I AM. When you mentally purchase the ground, and there build an altar unto the LORD in your imagination, you are declaring that the inner state has already answered the call. Ornan's gifts symbolize external aids; yet David says, no—only what I purchase with my full fervor is acceptable to God within. So the act of paying full price is not about money but about your willingness to become, to assume, to feel the reality as if it has already occurred. In this, the decree is done by you, in your present consciousness, and the plague is stayed as you dwell in that finished scene.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and choose a present burden. In your imagination, purchase the ground and build the altar, saying, 'I pay the full price' and feel it as already done.
