Biblical Context
Joab and his forces draw near the Syrians, and they flee before him. The outward scene shifts as courage conquers fear in the heart.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the seeker, this line is not a history lesson but a map of consciousness. Joab, and the hosts that stand with him, do not chase an army; they represent the state of awareness that rises and enters the arena of appearance. As Joab draws nigh to the Syrians, the outward enemy trembles and flees because the inner man has decided that conquest is inevitable. The Syrians' retreat is the visible sign that your prevailing I AM has moved toward the scene; fear, doubt, and limitation dissolve when you identify with the victorious self within. Remember: God is the I AM inside you, and imagination is the instrument by which you rearrange conditions. The moment you assume you are already the conqueror, the entire field of battle rearranges itself to fit your inner assumption. This is not violence but fidelity to the one power that holds you, now and always. Persevere in your inner posture, and outward events will follow the win that you have already decreed in consciousness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, stand as Joab at the brink of the inner field, and meet your fear with the certainty of conquest. Assume you already prevailed; feel the victory in your heart, and watch the outer scene respond.
