Biblical Context
David and the leaders bring up the ark with joy; God helps the Levites as they sacrifice, and all Israel joins in with music, while Michal looks on with disdain.
Neville's Inner Vision
I see the ark as the very Presence of God within my being. Bringing it up from the house of Obed-edom is the inner movement of consciousness: the I AM returning to the center of my mind. When God helps the Levites—i.e., when the right states of attention enter—my inner offering is complete: I give seven bullocks and seven rams of fear, of doubt, of limitation, and freely worship. I am clothed in linen, and I wear an ephod of clarity; my faculties—Levites, singers, master of song—move as one in harmony. Israel, the whole of my belief, rises in joyous crescendo: shouts, harps, and psalteries of praise. As the ark enters the city of David—the throne of my own I AM—the outer observer (Michal) may criticise, but her gaze cannot alter the inward triumph. The Presence is established; I live by assumption, feeling the wish fulfilled, and the world becomes the echo of that inner worship.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the ark is entering your inner city now. Feel the Presence as real and let joy rise in your heart as the city—your life—is carried to its rightful kingly center.
