Biblical Context
The passage records David taking additional wives in Jerusalem and the birth of many sons and daughters. It then lists their names.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within your inner temple, the name David stands for the kingly power of awareness that sits enthroned in you. The verse’s taking of wives and the begetting of many sons and daughters is not a record of outward history but a picture of the mind’s prolific activity when the I AM is alive in you. The different wives and the many children symbolize the multitude of thoughts, roles, and relationships that arise from a single seed of consciousness. Jerusalem is the seat of your awareness; thus these offspring are expressions of your inner life—projects, bonds, possibilities multiplying because you recognize yourself as source. The names listed become facets of your own mind, each a character in the drama you are consciousness of. The invitation is to remember the covenant: you are the I AM, the one king whose realm is the interior. When you acknowledge that you are not subject to absence but are the source, abundance flows as a natural outcome of the inner monarch’s reign.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and assume, 'I am the I AM, the source of all my relationships and ventures.' Visualize a single seed in your chest sprouting branches of people and projects, then feel the reality of abundance arising from within.
