Biblical Context
Eleazar, with David, stood firm as Philistines pressed at Pasdammim. They delivered the barley field and were saved by a great deliverance from the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the scene not as a distant history but as a map of your inner life. Eleazar and David do not conquer the world; they anchor themselves in the center of consciousness—the I AM—while the outer appearance roars with fear, the Philistines of doubt. The 'parcel of ground full of barley' is your life’s nourishment, the rich substance of your everyday thoughts and feelings. When the crowd fled, they did not chase after them; they turned inward, setting themselves in the midst of that field. In that still, centered position, they deliver the field from assault, and the Philistines fall away because your awareness has declared, 'I am here; I am whole; I am deliverance itself.' The LORD saving them is the recognition that your inner state aligns with divine power—salvation is already resident in consciousness, awaiting the shift in belief. Your imagination, steadied by attention and trust, reveals a deeper order in which you stand as the sovereign of your realm, reclaiming nourishment, victory, and peace. This is not history to study but a practice to live here and now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume Eleazar’s stance at Pasdammim. Feel your I AM grounding you in the center of your barley field, and affirm that deliverance is already yours here and now.
