In this lecture Neville Goddard explores the fundamental illusion of death and the eternal nature of consciousness. He begins by interpreting Jeremiah 51:39, describing a ‘self-imposed trance’ in which we are so captivated by the story of life that we swoon into a ‘perpetual sleep.’ Drawing on Genesis, Revelation, and the life of Joseph, Goddard argues that God, the ultimate dreamer, entered a ‘coffin in Egypt’ to experience mortality and must be awakened. He shares a mystical vision by A.E. (George Russell) of resurrection in a ‘many-colored land’ and recounts two personal anecdotes proving survival beyond the body. Finally, Goddard introduces the method of revision—repentance by radically changing one’s attitude toward past events—as the key to breaking the wheel of recurrence and ascending into a new age of creative freedom.
