In “The Man Within,” Neville Goddard teaches that the divine Christ resides within each person as a seed of God that must be raised through an inner, experiential rebirth. He contrasts mere intellectual belief with being “born from above,” a literal awakening achieved by union with Christ, the Word and seed of God. Drawing on biblical passages, William Blake’s poetry, and Francis Thompson’s imagery, Goddard illustrates the three stages of the seed—sowing, dying, and quickening—leading to spiritual transformation. He shares personal revelations and visionary experiences to show how God speaks through dreams and visions, unveiling Himself within the individual. Goddard emphasizes that true veneration and love of God require being lifted to His level, for “nought loves another as itself” until one becomes the divine Self. He explains how Scripture’s symbols—snakes, fish, marriage, resurrection—point to this inner process of rebirth. Finally, he reassures the audience that everyone called by the Father will eventually experience this union and fulfill God’s purpose in Christ.
