The Last Days

Tonight’s subject is “The Last Days.” One would from the title think that we are prophesying the end of the world, but we are not. Man thinks that history is moving towards an inevitable climax of good in this world, but that climax has already occurred. In the words “It is finished,” the new age has been entered and men, individually, are entering the new age. So when we speak of the last days—the last days of the individual when he leaves this world of sin and death and enters the new age called the kingdom of heaven—there are definite events in the life of the individual that bring him from this age into that age.

It’s difficult for man dwelling here to believe that everything that is taking place now has always taken place. He can’t believe it.The most disputed book in the Bible is Ecclesiastes: “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there a thing of which it is said, ‘See, this is new’? It has been already, in ages before us. But there is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things to come among those who will come after” (1:9-11). That is the most difficult thing for man to grasp, for he sees nothing but progress. He sees that today we have things that we have no memory that ever in the history of man they ever heard of, ever conceived of it. We speak of nuclear energy and we speak of, well, light. Just a century ago, we didn’t have it, this we didn’t have, and these things are completely new to us. Scripture teaches us it is not new. It is all part of a closed circuit, a play that moves within a wheel, but man has very short memories and he can’t remember that this thing ever happened before. We are told in the same Ecclesiastes, “I saw all the people that move about under the sun, as well as the second youth, who is to stand in his place; there was no end to all the people; he was over all. Yet those who will come after will not rejoice in him” (4:15).

Now we turn to the New, the Book of Hebrews, “In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son” (1:1). Now, the word son has no article in the Greek. The writer is not saying that God revealed himself in one who is a son among many sons, but in “sonship.” And man has completely gone astray in the interpretation of this passage…well, the interpretation of the entire book. For the New Testament writers identified the Spirit of Christ who controlled their lives with the Spirit of Jehovah who inspired the prophets…the identical being. They do not discriminate between the two; they are one…the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of Jehovah.

Well, then who is the Son? I tell you from my own experience that Son is David. Now in this same passage that we just quoted in the first chapter of Hebrews, having said that he now reveals himself in these last days in a son, then he tells us that “he reflects the glory of God and bears the express image of his person. And he is superior to angels as the name he has obtained is more excellent than theirs: For to what angel did God ever say, ‘Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee’?” (Verses 3-5). Well, right away he pinpoints who he is talking about. Yet every Christian—I include myself—I was taught that that was Jesus Christ, and it’s not Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ to the New Testament writers is Jehovah. That is David, the express image of God.

Now, as one who has stood in the presence of the risen Lord and answered the question that he asked of me, and then he embraced me, and incorporated me into his body, I know exactly what that Ancient of Days looks like. I can see him before my mind’s eye. And when he incorporated me I became one with that body, one with that spirit, for “He who is united with the Lord becomes one spirit with him” (1Cor. 6:17). So I felt what it was to be that body and that spirit when I first saw the face. Well, when years later I saw David, who called me Father, he was the youth of that being, the express image of his person. It wasn’t another. No, he doesn’t look like Neville, any more than Neville looks like the Ancient of Days. Well, when he embraced me into Spirit, I was that body, the Ancient of Days, and that Spirit. So when I saw David, David was the express image of his person. One is the Ancient of Days, and one the eternal youth…and this is called the “second youth.” “I saw all the people that go about under the sun, as well as the second youth; yet those who will come after will not rejoice in him.” They have no interest in this story of David and God.

“I have found in David the son of Jesse”—and Jesse means I AM which is the name of God—so “I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my own heart, who will do all my will” (Acts 13:22). You are David playing this part, but you do not know it yet and you do not know the Father that you are. You will not know it until David stands before you, when the drama is over, and calls you Father. But you are David and the whole vast world is David playing the parts. See, history to the Hebrew mind consists of all the generations of men and their experiences fused into one grand whole; and this concentrated time into which they are all fused and from which all generations spring they call “eternity.”

Now in the same Ecclesiastes, it is said that “the Lord put eternity into the mind of man yet so that man could not find out what God had done from the beginning” (3:11). That is in the mind of man, eternity. Well, who is eternity? The word eternity that we translate eternity is Olem, the Hebrew word Olem, which means “a youth, a lad, a young man.” He has put this eternal youth into the mind of man that will do his will. You’ll play the part of a blind man if that is necessary for the work to be done. You’ll play the part of the poor if that is necessary for the work to be done. You’ll play the part of the important, pompous rich man if that’s to be done. You’ll even play the part of a Hitler, the part of a Napoleon, the part of a Stalin if that is to be done. And David is playing all the parts. The one who is guiding him, whose will he is executing, is God the Father. In the end, when the work is done, David stands before you…you ask no questions…you know exactly who he is. He is your son, your only begotten son. Here you are the Father and your son is calling you “my Father, my God and the Rock of my salvation” (Ps. 89:26).

But not until this drama takes place in man have we reached the “last days.” So when you can say with Paul, “The time of my departure has come. I fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2Tim.4:7). “And now let no one bother me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus” (Gal. 6:17). These are the marks, these four great events that come in the last days beginning with the birth from above, “For unless you’ve been born from above, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven” (John 3:3). So, that comes first: You are born from above. But, that is only a sign—“And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes” (Luke 2:12). That’s a sign. But the second is not a sign; the second is your son. “So unto us a child is born, to us a son is given” (Is. 9:6). They’re two entirely different events. That son is not the child. “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given.” The son is David. “God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son” (John 3:16). You were taught to believe that was Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God the Father, whom David in the Spirit calls Father. As long as you think of it in terms of the son, you’ll miss the mystery altogether. Jesus Christ is God the Father. When you say “the Lord God Jehovah” that’s Jesus Christ, same being. And when you say David—“I will tell of the decree of the Lord, he said unto me ‘Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee’—that’s the 2nd Psalm (verse 7)…that’s said to David.

And one day, you will see David. He is always the eternal youth; he never gets older. Eternity is not an old man as the Greeks personified it; eternity is eternal youth, a youth at puberty. That’s David, “a man after my own heart who will do all my will.” No matter what I determine to play, David will play it; and wear the mask called Neville, wear the mask called Jan, wear the mask called Benny, wear the mask called anything. But he’ll play it and in the end then I’ve finished the race and I’ve fought the good fight and I have kept the faith. “The faith” is the story that was told us in the beginning of time. Before we entered into this arena to start the fight we saw the end. The whole thing was shown us before we started that we would come out at the very end by a series of events, and the series of events would lead us out of this world of sin and death into the age called “the kingdom of God.”

So here, when I speak of the last days, I’m not speaking of the end of this world. This is a play and it goes on and on and on. We come into it, we enter it, and we play unnumbered parts without loss of identity. You do not become another; you’re still the same actor playing all the parts. You play the rich man, the poor man, the beggar man, the thief, but you remain the same identity. In the end, when you are coming to the end, a series of events unfold within you, and these events are mirrored in the story of Jesus Christ. So what is said of him can be said of you in a first-person, present-tense experience. You actually experience it. You will not observe it taking place in another; you, yourself, will experience it.

So these are the last days. It begins with your resurrection when you awaken within yourself to find that you have been entombed in your own skull and you didn’t know it. That you’ve been dreaming this whole drama and you thought it was not a dream. To you, you were awake. You played it as I am playing it now, thinking “I am fully awake.” I know from experience when I awoke within myself I awoke in my skull. And how I was placed there I had no memory of it. At what moment in eternity I was buried there I do not remember. I only know that I awoke in my skull to find myself completely alone and the skull empty. I came out of it just as a child comes out of the womb of a woman—being born from above—to find all the symbolism of scripture present and unfolding before me; the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, the witnesses to witness this event, and I invisible to all because I am Spirit now.

For, it was God who was born. You are told in this story, “And this shall be a sign unto you.” Who is born?—the Savior. Who is the only Savior in scripture? It is Jehovah, and Jehovah and Jesus Christ are the same. “I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…and beside me there is no savior” (Is. 43:3, 11). There is no other savior; there’s only one God. So when God is born, the symbolism of his birth is present as described in scripture concerning the birth of Jesus Christ. It is God who is born. But God is a father. If God is a father then there must be a son…and that son is David. David will stand before you and you will look into his eyes and you will see the express image of the Ancient of Days, and you are the Ancient of Days. For in the end, there is “only one body, only one Spirit, only one Lord, only one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in all” (Eph. 4:4), so all are being gathered together into that one body that fell and became fragmented into unnumbered beings in the world. But still only one Father, one Lord, one body; all are gathered singly, one by one, into this one body.

So the King James Version calls it “the express image of his person.” The Revised Standard Version calls it by a different name. It is not an express image; it is “the stamp, the very stamp of his nature,” but that doesn’t convey my experience. The very stamp of his nature would imply, well, I’m a father, is that my nature? It could be that I am this, that and the other, but that’s not quite what he intended. And so, the express image of his person…well, God is a person. When people tell you he’s an impersonal force, forget it! God is man: “Thou art a man, God is no more, thine own humanity learn to adore” (Blake, The Everlasting Gospel). He is man. When you stand in the presence of the risen Lord, you see the Ancient of Days and it’s man and he’s infinite love…nothing but love. When you wear it and feel it, the ecstasy…you can’t describe the joy of wearing the body of the risen Lord, of being united to and being one with the Spirit of the risen Lord. But when you see David you feel yourself to be that risen Lord. And David expresses you in detail, only that’s the youth and you are the Ancient of Days. These are the “last days” that precede entrance into the new age called the kingdom of heaven.

So our Bible is really the greatest of all! Nothing comes near the Bible, and it’s true, it’s literally true, but men have misunderstood it. I do believe that a misunderstanding of scripture and those who are teaching it and who are not really, who do not know it, they do a far greater harm than those who go out and get blind drunk morning, noon and night, for they only injure the body. But this is injuring the soul, the distorted mind, that is ___(??) of the man who has been misinformed concerning the mystery of scripture.

So here, we are told there’s nothing new under the sun. Well, I know from my own experience that I’ve gone into worlds just like this that would make anything here and the most fantastic dreams of modern man look like little baby, little toys…like little toys compared to what I have actually witnessed…and it’s taking place now. These worlds are here, one within the other, and it’s all part of the one grand play. Well, if my friend Bob, who has had all these experiences, finds himself in a world and here comes this blast of light and all people stop and they take from their pocket a little card. It’s now the lunch hour…they look at the card and make a note of what they want, replace the card, and he observing this, they begin the most heavenly expression on their face they are so enjoying what they are eating. But no one sees the food; it seems to come from a central area where everyone is thoroughly enjoying their own choice. They fed without forks and knives on food prepared in kitchens…and devouring animal flesh. They simply select and suddenly they are actually enjoying everything beyond the wildest dream of man. The expression on their faces would make anyone who likes, say, oysters for instance and that lovely expression on their face before they take it, it wouldn’t compare to the expressions he saw on these people’s faces.

Well, that world is taking place right now. That’s the real world, and man here hasn’t begun to dream of such a time. He thinks of producing more and more wheat, more and more cattle, more and more of this because of the bursting population. And here, Bob stepped into a world where a little card in the pocket, selects what he wants, puts it back in, and the expression on his face was something heavenly as he enjoyed his meal. Well, these are worlds taking place right here now…worlds within worlds. Yet it is part of the world of Caesar. But I’m speaking of another world, a world called the world of the resurrection, and “Those who are accounted worthy to attain to that world, to the world of the resurrection, they neither marry nor are they given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, for now they are sons of God, and sons of the resurrection” (Luke 20:35), in the sense that God returned, his creative power returned.

And you never return until David. That is the cue, when he calls you Father. When David calls you Father the drama here is at an end. You now bear the marks of Jesus upon you (Gal.6:17). For in the spirit David called him “my Lord,” and “my Lord” is simply “my father” in the ancient world. So, “What think ye of the Christ? Whose son is he?” “David.” Well, “Then why did David in the Spirit call him ‘my Lord’? If David in the Spirit called him ‘my Lord,’ how can he be David’s son?” (Mat.22:42). He’s David’s father. Well, you tell that to the average Christian that Jesus Christ is the Father, and they will want to cut your throat, because to the average Christian, as I was raised, he is a son. Well, David is begotten not by woman…there is no mother in the story. “I am the son of Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

So here, this is what was put into the mind of man. He gave his son to man—and came with him and he died—the one who will do all his will. Everything he wants done David will do it; but he’s wearing the mask of John, wearing the mask of Bill, wearing the mask of David, wearing all the masks in this world. But in the end, when it’s all taken off, you are God the Father; and the only one in the world that could ever reveal you as God the Father is your only begotten son who is David. There is no way to reveal God save through the son.

So here, in the last days he has spoken to us through a son, through sonship. And then David calls you Father and then you know exactly who you are. I can tell you from now ’til the end of time you are God, but you won’t believe me. You’ll think I am either mad or arrogant or in some strange way ___(??). But the day will come, you will have the experience and it doesn’t matter what the world will think or say, you know, and that’s all that matters. You see him and you don’t have to ask, who are you? You know without any uncertainty who it is that stands before you. He is the express image of the being if you’ve ever seen the risen Lord…the identical picture. For when you are told “the express image” really means “the impression of the seal on wax or clay” it’s not something that you would paint from a live model and it resembles it, it’s the exact image, the express image of the person. Here is simply the Ancient of Days looking at himself as eternal youth, and that is David.

So here, these “last days” is not the ending of the world. This world is not coming to an end in spite of all the prophesies year after year. We see these signs on the street “Prepare because the world is coming to an end.” The only end the Bible speaks of is when the individual departs this world, and he departs this world not by shooting himself or taking poison. He doesn’t depart this world; he’s still in this world. If you drop dead this very moment, right now you are restored to life, a body same as before, new, unaccountably new, in a section of time best suited for the work still to be done in you. So you may drop here and find yourself in the year 1,000 or the year 4,000. But it will not be strange. You will still find yourself perfectly at home and in, naturally, an environment that you understand. You will play your part and go on…you’ll be married. You’d marry and you will die there too. You’re just as afraid of death there as you’re afraid of death here. You go through life that way.

But here in our wonderful group, we are waking, so many are waking. I received a letter yesterday morning from a lady, who is here tonight, she said, “I woke and it was time to get up, so I remained just for a moment and in that moment I received such an enormous blow on my head. It sounded like a hammer on steel. And then, all the sounds of the universe seemed to come alive. All the planes that could ever fly were all flying over me, and all the buses and all the cars were moving, and all the sounds magnified to the nth degree. Then it subsided and then the normal street noises returned…didn’t take too long. But what a blow! Then that night when I went to sleep, that is, a few nights later I was awakened about 1:00 in the morning when my neighbors were saying goodnight to guests who were leaving. I felt the need of something, a cold drink, so I got up and got a cold drink, returned to bed and fell asleep. As I fell asleep, here I am looking up at my body that is lying prone. I am looking at myself and it is lying prone. I see a light that is simply the outline of my being, my very self descending upon this prone body. But before they merge, they disappeared, and the light then descended in me. From head to toe the whole thing took possession of me and became interior. Prior to this, for about a week I had been feeling the presence of God, feeling it constantly. Now I feel it within; it is not surrounding me, I feel it within.” Well, here is the most marvelous experience for this lady.

Then another writes, “I wrote you that I could close my eyes and see scenes and they were all in vivid color, and then the color turned into a soft, lovely, like pastel color. Now, whether my eyes are open or shut I find scenes and without the body I step into them. I can do it and I do it through the day. I walk into these worlds of which you speak, and I can sit down under a tree in this world. I can smell the flowers. And everything is in Technicolor. I go around corners and do all the things I do here, and suddenly without closing my eyes or opening my eyes here come the worlds, and I step into these worlds.” Well, here is someone completely awake now.

That inner being of which I speak is simply stirring within all of you…and all will reach the “last days.” For the only purpose of life is to come to this end, where I can say it is time for me to depart. And then I can depart only by reason of the fact that I bear on my body “the marks of Jesus”—and his mark is the birth from above, the sign of the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. Then comes David, who calls you Father; then comes the splitting of the temple or the curtain of the temple, which is your own body, and your own ascent as a serpent right up into heaven in a spiral manner like fire; then comes the descent of the dove on you, smothering you with affection. So everything said of him you will experience in a first-person, present-tense experience. You will know it is all about you.

I have had these moments I’ve seen in my visions. I’ve talked to people and I knew they had been doing this over and over and over again. I said to a group one night crossing a bridge, “Do you know you’ve done this over and over as though it was ever?” and they wouldn’t believe me. They said, “No, this is the first time we’ve crossed this bridge.” “I’ll tell you exactly what you’re going to do now you’re going across the bridge and beyond it. You’ve been crossing this bridge forever and this is what you’re going to do.” Well, they laughed at me. Everything I told them they would do they did right across that bridge and under the street beyond it. I knew it. I’ve seen them cross that bridge unnumbered times; they’ve done it over and over and over. But they had no memory of ever having done it before. And this is life.

When you read that chapter…in fact, the entire twelve chapters of Ecclesiastes…you want to close the entire book. I got into a discussion with my brother who is a doctor, he said, “Neville, I can’t get that at all. It doesn’t make any sense to me at all that there’s nothing new under the sun. We have penicillin.” But you have no memory. You speak of penicillin today as something fantastic, but I’ll take you into other worlds where that is simply babies’ play. That would be considered nothing in the world in which I could take you, where these things aren’t necessary. Then we speak of the heart transplant…take you into a world where those things are just like little toys meaning nothing. And yet it still belongs to this world of Caesar. But the world into which you will go eventually you can’t describe it. How could you describe that age when not a thing here is related to it? You go into that age as God the Father, and not a thing here can be used to illustrate or in any way describe that age.

So when people ask me, “Well, describe it for me,” how can I do it? How can I tell you that I fused with the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings? Read carefully the 30th chapter of the Book of Jeremiah. The Lord is speaking, he said, “Can a man bear a child? Why then do I see every man with his hands drawing himself out of himself, just like a woman in labor? Why does every face turn pale? There never was a day like it; this is a day of terror for Jacob; but he will be saved out of it” (verses 6-7). Well, the phrase “out of it” means “because of it.” It really is used in composition of completion…the whole thing is done and because of this he will be saved. But David…yes it’s a day of terror for David. Now he speaks and he goes on, “And the Lord of hosts has said that I will break the yoke off your neck, and I will burst your bonds, and no more shall anyone make a servant of you. But they shall worship the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up” (Jer. 30: 8). He tells you he has to raise him up, for he buried him in you. He will raise him up, and when he rises first he raises his son. He will not leave him in the grave.

So David is raised up. I’ll raise him up, for “I have found David; with my holy oil I have anointed him” (Ps. 89:20). “He’s called unto me, ‘Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation’” (verse 26). So the Father and his Son David enter the human mind. And David plays the part: “A man after my own heart, who will do all my will” (Acts 13:22).

But in the end, when he’s done it all and the drama is over and he’s finished it—fought the good fight and he’s finished the race and he’s kept the faith; the faith being the vision that I showed him before we started—well then, I will raise him up. As I raise him up, I will see my eternal youth who will call me Father. Then the drama is over. But you are told in Ecclesiastes, “Those who will come after will not rejoice in him at all.” So you can go out and tell this from the housetops and they say, “So what! Give me money first. Let me have a little fun first!”

A friend of mine who dropped dead watching TV three years ago…I used to say to Gene, “Well, Gene, why don’t you listen?” He said, “No, I want to have a little fun first.” He was a man about five years my senior, a very successful writer and he lived well. While he was watching TV he said to his wife, “Shall we go shopping now?” She said, “No, not quite.” He said, “Well, I’ll continue watching.” So he’s watching TV at about ten in the morning, he got up, and as he got up, fell straight forward, and Gene was gone. But he would not listen. He was afraid, always afraid of anything of this nature. So, he’s not interested. He would not rejoice in this story of David, it means nothing. So now Gene is restored to life, a young man in his twenties. In spite of the fact he was five years my senior when he died, he’s restored as a young man, nothing missing—no teeth missing, no eyes, no hair—young, handsome and wonderful in a world just like this, terrestrial, playing the part that he must play, totally oblivious of what he could have heard. And this is life. You remain in this world, and it’s a very vast world, and it’s circular, until the very end when these “last things” come upon you. But not until they are experienced by the individual will he ever depart from the stage. You cannot enter the kingdom of heaven unless you are first born from above, that’s the first. After that you must find David. And then you must find the curtain split from top to bottom. And the dove must descend. Then you enter. We all re-enter in the one body, for there’s only one God, only one Spirit, only one Lord, only one God and Father of all.

So I tell you what I know from experience. I’m not theorizing, I’m not speculating. I know exactly what I’m talking about, for I have experienced it. So this is what I mean by “the last days.” I do not mean the end of this world at all. This world goes on regardless of how messy it appears to be. It goes on and we all play our parts. Just as one actor can play numberless parts in the course of a lifetime, you will play numberless, too, without loss of identity. For the actor does not lose his identity. He steps on the stage and plays Hamlet; tomorrow he plays Othello, two different races but the same actor. You’ll play all these, too, and play the rich and play the poor, play the known and the unknown, and play all the parts of the world.

In the very end, in the last days, he will speak to you through a son, and that is the final revelation of God to man. For then through the Son he’s revealing himself. You can’t go any further…it is when God reveals himself as you, not as another, as you. And it takes his Son to reveal God…only the Son can show you who you are. When God’s Son calls you Father, you know who you are.

Q: If this son is greater than the angels or saints, where are these angels and saints?

A: The Bible speaks of them as messengers of the Lord. Just as in this world we have ranks in the army…we have the general and we come down in ranks. As you’re told in scripture, “A man of authority…I say ‘Go,’ and he goes; I say, ‘Come,’ and he comes” (Mat. 8:9). You but speak the word and it be done. You read in the story of the 12th chapter of Corinthians the eight levels or ranks even in heaven, beginning with the apostles, then comes the prophets, then comes the teacher, the workers of miracles, and the healers, and the helpers, the administrators, and last of all the speaker in tongues (verse 28). You find these levels so that the top includes all…not just a part, he includes all. But God is a protean being…played the part of the angel, played the part of the servant…so he’s playing it here.

Q: Mr. Neville, what are your views on the Book of Revelation pertaining to the end or the last days of the world ___(??) to your views of the last days?

A: Did you hear the question, in Revelation, concerning the last days of the world? Well, the Bible speaks of two ages, and the word translated “age,” Aeon, sometimes is translated “the world.” And so, when we speak of the end of an age we speak of the end of a world. My world has come to its end, officially, but I’m lingering for a moment to tell it or to write it or to encourage others. But when I depart this time, I’m not restored to life. And so, everyone in this world, no one dies, everything is restored, made new, unbelievably new and unaccountably new. You see the little ash…the body is burned and it turns into a little bit of ash. How can that be restored? And yet, before that was turned into ash, he, the occupant of that body is restored and solidly real to himself and those with whom he communicates, in a world terrestrial just like this…and it’s just here.

So the world coming to an end does not mean that there’s going to be a great conflagration of this world, but we individually depart it when we come to the end of the journey. Time must have an end as far as we are concerned. Eternity invades time and redeems man. For we are now in time, the time is circular, and we go over and over. I have seen these parts played over and over. It seems frightening, but man has no memory that he’s ever done it before. Haven’t you ever caught yourself saying I’ve done this before? Reason tells you you’ve never done it before, you know very well you’ve never done this before, and yet something tells you you’ve done it before. I think we’ve all had that experience. You sit in a place and you know you’ve never been here before, you know it. The people you are now meeting you know you have never met them before and if you ask them they’ll say no, we never met before. If you took everything you know in your history in this little section of time, took it apart, you will know that’s true. You never met them before and they do not know you because they never met you before; yet something deeper than this is telling you you’ve done this before. I’ve done this before. The identical words I’ve just heard…I heard them before coming from that same person. And yet reason tells me it isn’t. But there is something greater than reason that tells me, “But you did.” I think I have had numberless experiences of this nature and I’ve met many who would confirm it.

And Ecclesiastes, not in the Bible May I tell you that our priesthoods of the world have tried their best to delete that book—but it’s been there so long they can’t do it— because it’s in complete conflict with what they teach. “He’s put eternity into the mind of man and man cannot find out what he’s done from the beginning to the end” (3:11). The word translated “eternity” is Olam, which means “youth, the lad, the young man.” We translate the word “world” or we translate it “eternity” and it all hangs upon the meaning of that word what you’re going to get out of it. But the word itself by definition means “the young man.” When the young man comes before the king, he asks him a very simple question. First of all, he turns to his lieutenant Abner, he said, “Abner, whose son is that youth?” Abner said, “By your soul I do not know.” He said, “Enquire whose son the stripling is” (1Sam.17:56). No one knows.

Now the stripling comes before him with the head of the Philistine in his hands (Goliath), and Saul said, “Whose son are you, young man?” He’s looking not for the son, he’s looking for the father. Every question that he asks…“whose son is he”…that means tell me who is his father. Whose son is the stripling? Who is his father? That’s what man is searching for…man is searching for the Father, for the cause of the phenomena of life. But, “whose son is he”…tell me who is his father. When the son comes, then the son answers. He said, “Whose son are you, young man?” He said, “I am the son of Jesse the Bethlehemite. Well, Jesse is any form of the verb “to be.” He is saying, “I am the son of I AM.” Whoever bears that name I am his son, that’s what he’s saying. I am the son of the one who bears the name I AM. Well, God reveals his name to Moses, “Go and tell them I AM has sent you” (Exod. 3:14), so anyone who bears that name. Who doesn’t bear the name I AM? Before you become aware of anything, you must first be aware of being: To be aware of being is saying “I am.” I may say I am rich, I am poor, but before I say rich or poor I must establish the fact that I am. So I’m the son of the one whose name is I AM; so I am looking for the Father.

Well, I can give you this in reason, but I can’t convince you until he’s actually standing before you and calls you Father. There’s no uncertainty as to who he is when he stands before you either, none. Here David stands before you and David is God’s only begotten son…and Jesus Christ is God the Father. Man has completely misunderstood the play. It’s a play…as Paul states it so clearly in the 3rd chapter of Galatians, (verse 1), “O Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing through faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, are you ending with the flesh?” Are you going to see this drama as flesh and blood? He tells you he was publicly portrayed, like a play. A play portrays a drama and you, having seen the play, are you going to carry yourself away now and see the play as reality and not what it is telling you? We all do that. We see a play and we blame the actor, when if anyone is to blame or to praise it’s the author, and he’s always unseen.

So here, we are looking for the Father. Everyone is searching for God the Father…that’s the search. And when he finds him he finds himself. Only through God’s only begotten Son will he ever find God the Father and who in turn calls him Father. And strangely enough he knows it. There’s no doubt in his mind when he encounters David, for it was before the drama began.
