In this lecture Neville Goddard explores the concept that our entire world is a dream within a dream, originating from the sleep of God Himself. He recounts a personal experience where, upon asking for a revelatory dream, he found himself lost in an apartment building and ultimately realized he was dreaming the very scenario. Goddard draws on biblical references—such as Adam’s profound sleep, Joseph’s divine dream messages, and Pilate’s wife’s warning dream—to illustrate how divine communication manifests through dreams and visions. He contrasts night dreams, which occur when one fully closes the eyes, with daydreams, where the practitioner maintains partial eye closure and full control of imagination to shape reality. Goddard shares his father’s method of visualization with eyes “ajar,” which enabled him to build a substantial fortune without unethical behavior. He emphasizes that God, as the Dreamer, has projected us into being, and by discovering and identifying with this Dreamer within, we can awaken to our true divine nature. Ultimately, he teaches that by imagining and embodying our desired outcomes as real daydreams, we participate in God’s creative process and fulfill our predetermined destiny.
