In this lecture Neville Goddard clarifies that true change arises only through self-transformation, as consciousness is the sole reality shaping our external world. He explains that love or hate toward any object inevitably molds us into its likeness, illustrated by war metaphors and biblical allegories such as Matthew 16 and John 17. Goddard interprets Bible narratives symbolically, asserting that Jesus’ dialogues with his disciples reflect man’s self-contemplation and the imperative to assume one’s desired state. Central to his teaching is the “law of assumption”: by feeling the wish fulfilled in a controlled, drowsy imaginative state, one enacts change within and thus manifests it without. He provides practical techniques—entering a relaxed state, immobilizing the body, and feeling an imagined action as real—to bridge the gap between inner desire and outer reality. Ultimately, Goddard asserts that there is no external power to blame or appeal to; one must sanctify oneself and thereby sanctify the world.
