On October 23, 1967, Neville Goddard delivered “A Lesson in Scripture,” proposing that all Biblical narratives are individual autobiographies. He asserts that the scriptures are meant to be lived and fulfilled inwardly, as each person is the expression of God’s creative Word. God’s Word is identified with human imagination, the divine creative power within us. By persistently assuming the desired state, one embodies Jesus Christ and brings scriptural promises to fruition. Goddard illustrates this through personal anecdotes, such as Bennie’s spiritual birth vision, to demonstrate experiential scripture fulfillment. He emphasizes the necessity of a hunger for the Word of God above worldly desires. Ultimately, persistence in assumption leads to metamorphosis, enabling one to consciously partake in the divine nature.
